Post-it motion

I came across this link in the syllabus and it was a very cool project this person made. I think it definitely took him a very long time but the design was very impressive and interactive.

History of Nintendo

mario-bros

History of Nintendo goes all the way back to 1889. Nintendo was generally thought and translated as "leave luck to heaven."  Nintendo partnered with Disney in 1959 to print Disney characters on the Nintendo cards. Later in 1970 Nintendo was struggling with sales but Hiroshi requested an "Ultra Hand" after seeing Gunpeo Yokoi playing with one. This was very significant because they were one of the only companies developing toys at the time. After the toy industry Nintendo switched focus to Video games releasing their first game in 1975 called EVR Race and then followed Donkey Kong. Nintendo then decided to create their own video game console called Nintendo Entertainment System. Releasing Super Mario Bros was a huge success and throughout the last 3 decades they have been releasing an abundance of games and hand held consoles that are still huge in today's market.

Pop Art

Pop art was born in Britain in the mid 1950s. First discussed between the Independent Group (IG) which was part of the Institute of Contemporary Art in London, begun around 1952-53. I believe it was the start of art based on modern popular culture and the mass media.

Light Bending Dance

Its a combination of video project mapping and sensors to dynamically respond to the movements of the dancer. So every time the dancer moves these 3D objects become alive making different shapes depending on the movement.

Spot Boston Dynamics

Spot is a four-legged robot that looks like a dog and it is designed for indoor and outdoor operations. it is electrically powered and hydraulically actuated. It seems like this machine can walk through numerous terrains and run as well. In the video I watched it show the robot being kicked and still able to not fall apart and remain stable. This is a very cool robot in my opinion, Spot also has a sensor that helps it navigate and not crash to a wall.

Episteme & Techne

Episteme and Techne, knowledge and art may be assumptions to what we consider theory and practice. This very well thought reading seems a little too long for my taste. After reading the first gigantic paragraph and the table of contents i found out that Xenophon and Plotinus, and The Stoics were other authors that i never heard before. I also find that there is a very close relationship between episteme and techne that this authors were able to use in their works.

9/11 experience

on 9/11 i was not here in the U.S, i was back home in the Dominican Republic and suddenly when this is happening the teacher in my class told us the news, and we didn't really know what was going on. They brought a tv into the classroom and the reporter was getting the information and images of the scene from the other reporters that were in New York city. He had said 2 planes crashed into the towers and another one hit the pentagon and i remember everyone in my class didn't really know what was going on we were not that concerned because it was irrelevant to us since we were so young and didn't even live in the US. My family personally all live in the D.R so the news were not that shocking to us but i know it was a tragic event and i didn't know much about it until i moved here in 8th grade.

Madame Butterfly

This movie got creepy and weird fast. The first scene is a butterfly landing on a woman and next thing you know she's in bed with a guy. I was confused and thought "this is weird." Half way through it looks like she give births to a fish, but its a baby and that was disturbing to watch. A few seconds later the baby was a full grown kid playing with her mother as a kite. At this point I don't know what to say. This is creepy and i am very confused. At the end the guy returns and takes the kid away from the woman separating them as a family. This now turned into a sad story.

Class Grid

I decided to make a grid out of Oreos.

Blade Runner

When I finished watching Blade Runner for the third time this semester, I noticed they got some things right about the future that we already have and some things that we haven't came close to yet.
The flying cars for instance... The furthest we've gone is electric cars and it will take a long time before we have flying ones. Also, I believe they got the talking trough a screen ( like Skype, FaceTime) right. There were several scenes throughout the movie where this happened. Also, the variety of languages throughout LA came true. The amount of Ads in the city looks just like today's date. Artificial intelligence advancements have came true, and soon we'll see robots doing housework.

Juan Carlos Delgado photographs

After seeing Juan Carlos Delgado's work, I was intrigued by what the purpose of these pictures were.  The first image of the tubes covered in ice, i was not sure of what he wanted to achieve by it, and the little bronze sculpture of the girl with her cheeks covered in ice and then the one with her full face covered in ice still have me thinking what he found so amusing about them. Juan Carlos describes that the image of the girl is what he idealizes true beauty but with a touch of bronze. This is multimedia because this is the way that Juan Carlos expresses his form of art. Multimedia can be shown in numerous ways and this is how he prefers to show his work.
